And that’s the reason why this particular call has been called for banning of these applications, we all very well know that it was some in June, last year when 59 applications, mobile applications were banned. Later in September, there were more than 118 Chinese applications that were on the list. And now this is the new list of 54 applications that are gonna be banned soon. Looking at the security of the countries what we understand.
Okay, now the principal problem with, of course, these apps is that the suspicion lies on the data gathering the premise of the app is something very simple, okay. It’s a simple game, or it’s a simple user application. And the data gathering, the apps are doing far beyond the requirement for the app.
Now a lot of these are pervasive, you ban one five more pop up, okay. And the data is then going to Chinese servers, and God knows what it’s been used for. None of us pay as much attention as we should to all the permissions we give to our apps. And some of the apps only work if you give them all the permissions the microphone permission, SMS, call records, call data, contact list, location data.
India Banned 54 Chinese Apps banned
So what you’re saying who you’re saying it to who you’re texting, who you’re talking to where you are, potentially all this information can be gathered. Now there’s a problem when governments gather them, there’s an equal problem when potential enemy countries gather them.
So on regular basis, there is a review of all of these applications. As I was mentioned in June, we had already seen last year, where all mobile applications like Tiktok, WeChat, and others were banned by the government looking at security purposes.
Then later on in September, we had seen that more in hundreds of applications were banned. China has gone ahead and has not accepted or rather has somewhere protested against India’s call about this particular Chinese App ban and application. We also have a kind of call from their side that opposes this particular decision.

They have said that this is a non-discriminatory principle that such kind of call has been taken. While that’s a version of China during last September month when the other applications were banned. This time around there are more in numbers of the 50s when these have applications will be in the list which will be banned.
And as you very correctly pointed out. These have applications that are several pop-ups come up. And we may never know what it is at what depth until what level of information is getting circulated to the countries or to the countries that are posing danger or the threat to us.
