Review and Rating

Bramayugam is a haunting tale of folklore and intrigue, that keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats with its suspenseful twists and turns. The movie is shot entirely in black and white, which adds to its aesthetic appeal and enhances its period setting.

The cinematography by Sujith Sarang is brilliant, capturing the eerie atmosphere and the contrasting emotions of the characters. The musical score by Christo Xavier is equally impressive, creating a haunting and immersive soundscape that complements the narrative.

The movie boasts of a stellar cast, led by the versatile and charismatic Mammootty, who delivers a terrific and terrifying performance as Kunjamon Potti. He portrays the character with such finesse and nuance, that he makes the viewers feel both fascinated and repulsed by his actions.

He is ably supported by Arjun Ashokan, who plays the innocent and naive Thevan, who transforms as he faces the horrors of the mansion. The chemistry between the two actors is palpable, and they bring out the best in each other. The supporting cast, including Amanda Liz, Sidharth Bharathan, and others, also do justice to their roles.

The movie is not for the faint-hearted, as it contains scenes of gore, violence, and torture, that may shock and disturb some viewers. However, the movie does not rely on cheap jump scares or excessive bloodshed, but rather on the psychological horror and the suspense that builds up throughout the story.

The movie also does not shy away from addressing the social issues of caste oppression and exploitation, and how they affect the lives of the marginalized communities.

Bramayugam is a masterpiece of horror cinema, that showcases the talent and vision of Rahul Sadasivan, who has crafted a unique and original story that blends history, mythology, and fiction.

The movie is a must-watch for fans of horror and thriller genres, as well as for fans of Mammootty, who proves once again why he is one of the finest actors in the industry.
