Shahid Kapoor to Star in Rosshan Andrrews’ Bollywood Debut Based on a True Incident
Rosshan Andrrews, a maverick Malayalam director known for his critically acclaimed and commercially successful films like Udayananu Tharam, Mumbai Police, and Kayamkulam Kochunni, is all set to make his Bollywood directorial debut with a new action thriller starring Shahid Kapoor.
The untitled project, which will be produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios, will go on floors in the second half of 2023 and will release in 2024. The film is said to be based on a true incident that shook the nation.

Shahid Kapoor, who was last seen in the blockbuster remake of Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh, expressed his excitement to work with Rosshan Andrrews in a statement. He said, “I have been keen to collaborate with Murad bhai and Bhushan sir for a while now. I couldn’t think of a better project than this one to kickstart our journey together. I’m looking forward to working with Rosshan Andrrews. It will be a pleasure to work with a fantastic cinematic mind like him.”
The actor also shared the news on his Instagram account with a picture of him posing with the director and the producers. He captioned it, “New beginnings. New challenges. New journey. Can’t wait to start this one.”

Rosshan Andrrews, who has directed nine Malayalam films so far, said that he is thrilled to make his Hindi debut with such an incredible team of professionals. He said, “I’m very happy and elated to direct my first Hindi feature film with such a talented actor like Shahid Kapoor and with the prestigious banner T-Series backing it. I have always admired the way Murad bhai and Bhushan sir back content-driven cinema and I’m glad to associate with them.”
The director also revealed that the film is based on a true incident that happened in Kerala and that he has been working on the script for the past two years. He said, “The film is based on a true incident that happened in Kerala which shook the entire nation. It’s a very important story that needs to be told. I have been working on this script for almost two years now and I’m confident that Shahid will do justice to the role.”
The film will also feature other prominent actors from Bollywood and Malayalam cinema. The casting process is underway and the makers will announce the rest of the cast soon.
