New York – Meanwhile, the US military has decided to postpone a test launch of Minuteman-III. It is an intercontinental ballistic missile. The decision comes in a bid to lower tensions after Russia announced that it was putting its nuclear forces on high alert. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement fund fears that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine could lead to a nuclear escalation.
European leaders saw it as a threat to the west. On Monday, the Russian defense minister said that its nuclear missile forces and northern and Pacific fleets had been placed on enhanced combat duty after Putin’s order.

Now Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov added to the fears when he said that the Third World War will be a nuclear conflict and there is no way around it. The Pentagon has confirmed the Russian rhetoric. It is also said that it hopes the decision to delay its ICBM test will serve as an example for Moscow.
“The United States and Russia have long agreed that nuclear employment could have devastating consequences. And we both agreed most recently this year in the context of the P five statement that a nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought.”
“Such provocative rhetoric and possible changes to nuclear posture involving the most consequential weapons and our respective Arsenal is unacceptable.”
“The United States has not taken any similar steps. And so to demonstrate that we have no intention of engaging in any actions that can be misunderstood, or misconstrued. The Secretary of Defense has directed that our Minuteman three intercontinental ballistic missile test launch scheduled for this week be postponed.”
Meanwhile, the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is calling Putin’s provocative nuclear rhetoric the height of irresponsibility.
“Provocative rhetoric about nuclear weapons is the height of irresponsibility. Stainless adds to the risk of miscalculation. It needs to be avoided.”
The nuclear-capable Minuteman three is a key part of the American military strategic arsenal. It has a range of 6000 plus miles, which is 9660 plus kilometers, it can travel at speeds of 15,000 miles per hour, that is 24,000 kilometers per hour.
And this is considered to be a very formidable missile was the Americans have got in their arsenal, and it is this testing of this particular missile that’s now in fact being put off by the Americans.
And they’re hoping that Russia will of course see this as an effort by the Americans to de-escalate.
