Roman Fury impresses with bloody win over Svarc on Joshua-Ngannou undercard
Roman Fury, the younger brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, scored a convincing win over Martin Svarc on Friday night in Saudi Arabia. The cruiserweight prospect bloodied Svarc’s nose in the fourth and final round, sealing a unanimous decision victory. He improved his record to 4-0, with one knockout, and showed his skills and toughness in front of his brother and father, who accompanied him to the ring.
The fight was part of the undercard for the highly anticipated clash between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou, a former UFC champion who nearly upset Tyson Fury in his boxing debut. Fury said he was honored to be part of such a big event, and he thanked his brother for giving him the opportunity and the inspiration.
“I’m very happy with the win. He was a tough opponent, he came to fight, but I showed him what I’m made of. I’m learning every day, and I’m grateful for the support of my family and my team. Tyson is my role model, he’s the best in the world, and I want to follow his footsteps. He’s the reason why I’m here, and I hope I made him proud,” Fury said after the fight.
Tyson Fury, who is preparing for his trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder in June, praised his brother for his performance and his progress. He said he was impressed by Roman’s composure and power, and he predicted a bright future for him.
“Roman did a great job. He was calm, he was sharp, he was strong. He landed some good shots, especially that left hook that busted his nose. He showed he can handle the pressure and the stage. He’s only had four fights, but he’s improving every time. He’s got the talent, he’s got the heart, he’s got the Fury name. He’s going to be a champion one day, mark my words,” Tyson Fury said.
