Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi writes to EC for the Postponement of Punjab Polls

Chandigarh – All right, breaking news coming in from Punjab the chief minister of the state. Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi has returned to the election commission and has requested the postponement of elections in Punjab. Now Channi has cited Ravidas Jayanti for Pool postponement.
That is of course the big breaking news coming in from Punjab. Charanjit Singh Channi, the Chief Minister of Punjab has written, of course, an explosive letter to the election commission. In that letter, he has asked the EC to postpone the elections. Very interesting. He has cited Guru Ravidas Jayanti for the postponement of the dates.
Of course, we have to wait and watch for other political reactions to come in. Charanjit Singh Channi and Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu, both from the Congress, of course, are logged in a turf war. There is a lot of internal rift within the Congress Party as far as Punjab is concerned.
As of now, we have got the confirmation from the CMO side that, Charanjit Singh Channi had written a letter to the Election Commission of India, for the postponement of the elections, which are scheduled for 14 February 2022. Well, he had sought request to the EC that in Punjab Guru Ravidas Jubilee celebration is a huge occasion, which is being celebrated by the commuters of Punjab.
So, you know, it’s coming on the day of 16th, Feb. So just, after the voting, you know, people start preparing for it weeks ago, so he had sought to extend action on the date of the Punjab election, in his letter, he had requested Election Commission, the date should be postponed for six more days, so that people, the campaign for the different political parties, including Congress will be there.
So they will not be able to reach the maximum numbers because Election Commission, they have already banned the rallies or, you know, through the roadshows so they have only had methods like virtual rallies or only they can online, interact with the people. So, he had sought, Election Commission to postpone the elections for six more days means for the 20th of February, the voting should be there.
So now he had written a letter so as far as the Election Commission is concerned, you know, nothing from their side have come that how they’re going to entertain this particular letter, but Charanjit Singh Channi had sought postponement of elections due to Jubilee of Guru Ravidas over here in Punjab.
As far as the Congress is concerned, it’s very heavily betting on the Dalit votes and Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi himself belonging to the Scheduled Caste. He is trying to woo a sizable number of the population there in Congress. Whether this gamble heals any electoral benefits for Congress or not, we’ll have to wait and watch but for now.
