Sadi Mohammad died at the age of 67. His lifeless body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the music room of his house. The police suspect that the artist chose to die by suicide. Renowned dancer Shamim Ara Nipa also confirmed that Sadi went into trauma ever since his mother died. He was not exactly normal mentally. Perhaps he could not bear the pain of losing his mother.

Sadi was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by Channel i in 2012 and received the Rabindra Award by Bangla Academy in 2015. His contributions to Rabindra Sangeet and his influence on the cultural sphere of Bangladesh will be remembered for generations to come.
