Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty Release Date and Price

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will be released on September 26, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (including Steam Deck). The expansion will not be available for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. Phantom Liberty costs $30 USD. Alternatively, those who don’t own the base game can buy the base game and expansion bundle for $80 USD.

Platforms and Compatibility

Phantom Liberty will only be playable on the next-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) and PC. The PS4 and Xbox One versions of Cyberpunk 2077 will not support the expansion due to technical limitations. However, players who own the PS4 or Xbox One version of the base game can upgrade to the next-gen version for free and access Phantom Liberty from there.

Phantom Liberty will also be compatible with the Steam Deck, Valve’s upcoming handheld PC gaming device. CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the expansion will run smoothly on the Steam Deck at 720p resolution and 30 FPS.

Story Details

Phantom Liberty will take players to a new area of Night City called Dogtown, a ruined city-within-a-city ruled by a trigger-happy militia led by Kurt Hansen, a former Militech soldier turned arms dealer. The main plot revolves around rescuing Rosalind Myers, the president of the New United States of America (NUSA), who crash-landed in Dogtown after her plane was shot down by unknown attackers.

To complete this mission, V will team up with two new characters: Solomon Reed, a veteran spy played by Idris Elba; and Songbird, Myers’ personal netrunner played by Christine Minji Chang. Along the way, V will also encounter other new characters such as Alena “Alex” Xenakis, a shapeshifter hired by Reed; Cameron Green and Tim David, two Australian hackers; and Johnny Silverhand himself, who will have a bigger role in the expansion.

Phantom Liberty will feature multiple endings depending on V’s choices throughout the story. The expansion will also explore themes such as loyalty, betrayal, power, and freedom.
